Codan, Barrett red button

All those involved with HF radio know that the loved emergency red button on radios is no longer monitored across Australia by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Austravel Safetynet has resurrected the RED button emergency call.  This means that anyone in your travelling party can operate the HF radio very simply.

One press of one button on suitable Codans or two buttons together on a Barrett 4050 enables automated connection which provides direct voice contact with an emergency help responder.  (No radio operation knowledge required.)  Emergency call is available for all older radios as well with a single selcall or send position call.

But how does it work?  It's not magic, BUT, you do need to need to be a member of Austravel SafetyNet and have your radio programmed appropriately.

What do you need to know?  Press the RED BUTTON and your radio transmits a priority broadcast for all bases to hear in parallel.  The Telcall+ servers (many in parallel to combat failure duplicity) do the rest notifying the Incident Responder Team by SMS directly to their mobile phones.   An Incident Responder member will contact you back on HF via the best base and channel.   No apps no fuss just press the RED Button, or on older radios selcall or GPS call.  Austravel SafetyNet has been successfully operating this RED BUTTON CALL  technology since 2017.

It's our awesome Telcall+ functionality available for a very modest cost, get in touch if you want to know more.

The Codan and Barrett HF radio "Red-Button" is back, by integration with Telcall+ and Out-n-About phone app
